Feeling Better

Hi friends,

So, I haven't had an internet connection for the past week and a half, and I thought I had published the previous blog. Come to find out, I must have lost the internet connection somewhere between finishing it and hitting "Publish". So now you have it.

But I am feeling better from the pneumonia. The doctor is keeping me on a strong cough syrup for a while, and wants to see me a third time on Monday. After a week of antibiotics and a shot, I am getting along. I'm even out of the house today!

Please pray also for Granny, the lady I live with. While I've been down with pneumonia, she has discovered a compression fracture in her spine. This is causing her a lot of pain and discomfort. Neither of us has felt well enough to take care of the other for the past week. Please pray that her back will heal quickly and completely.

Thank you all for your prayers and support!

Love,
Carrie

A funny thought...

Hi everyone!

I went to Missouri this past weekend to visit my best friend, Autumn, and to see many other friends graduate from the Missionary Training Center.

On the way up, I noticed a rattling in my lungs, so when I returned I went to the doctor. He decided that I have pneumonia, which is agitating my asthma, and there may be some pleurisy. I'm on major antibiotics and cough syrup, and go back for a checkup next Wednesday. Please pray that my body responds positively to these meds.

That's not the funny thought. :-)
Since I've been a little "out of commission," I've been reading a lot more. Yesterday I finished Franklin Graham's autobiography "Rebel With a Cause." The last page was titled "About the Author". As opposed to the rest of the book? :-) Hope this makes you smile like it did me. Have a great Easter weekend celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Duck Pond and Suessical

Yesterday, my friend Logan and I had a day on the town to celebrate his birthday that I missed in January. We left from church, picked up lunch at Arby's, went to the duck pond (technically, bayou), hit Walmart, and went to see Suessical! It was a very full afternoon, but we had a blast.
These birds were very possessive. I stayed away from them...

Logan had a great time feeding the ducks and geese crackers.

Here's Lo manning the pirate ship at the park.

Hope you all were able to have a good weekend! God bless.

Spring has SPRUNG!! ...amended...

When people ask me what my favorite season is, I can never think of the "right" answer. I love winter (in certain areas of the world more than others) because the snow is pretty--when you don't have to shovel it. I love fall, because the colors of the leaves change and the air gets brisk. I love the summer, because I like to feel the heat of the sun. I like spring, because the flowers begin to bloom, and I love to watch the trees go from branches to buds to leaves. When people ask me the question though, I can't remember the feeling I get when I see the first green buds and colorful blossoms! I LOVE SPRING!

The day after this article, it snowed 3 inched here in Shreveport like I have never seen before in the South.

Mexico...

I've been in contact with the field leadership in Mexico this past week. After praying about going to Mexico in January, I've decided to try to get there this August--2008. This will enable me to start the language learning program with other students, and to arrive in Paraguay 5 months earlier than planned--now in August 2009 instead of January 2010! I'll be spending the next 5 months traveling around to share with churches, small groups, and individuals about God and missions. If you have a group you'd like me to share with, let me know! I'd love to have as many opportunities as possible to share what God is doing. Feel free to give me a call or send an email if you have any questions. Please make these things a matter of prayer.

Also, tomorrow I visit the dentist for the first time in 5 years...at least I'm pretty sure it's been 5 years...No more than 5 at least.

Love,
Carrie

World Missions Conference

Hi everyone!
This past weekend, I was blessed to be a part of the World Missions Conference at a church north of town. It was great to be up there, to stay with a great family from the church, and to be able to share with the youth group about what I'm planning to do. Thank you everyone for your prayers in regards to the missions conference.
Love,
Carrie
